Objective:

At a time before many African Americans were considered for Academy Awards, the annual Image Awards were created to honor projects and individuals who demonstrated exemplary works by and for people of color in the arts. The Viewers’ Guide helps to increase awareness and remind Americans of the tireless endeavors of people of color, as they work to eliminate all racial, sexual and religious discrimination.

The Viewers’ Guide reflects this premier event celebrating outstanding achievements of people of color.
